Chief Flynn Statement on Law Enforcement Sacrifice

August 6th, 2012 by milwaukeepolice

Statement from Milwaukee Chief of Police Edward A. Flynn on the sentencing this morning for Juan Alvarado. On Christmas Day 2011, Alvarado hit Milwaukee Police Officer Frank Vrtochnick with his car and left him for dead. Chief Flynn shared the following today:

“In the past week, the dangers officers face each day are at the fore. As we watch Officer Frank Vrtochnick’s incredible progress since his injury, we are laying to rest Milwaukee County Deputy Sheriff Sergio Aleman and praying for the recovery of Oak Creek Police Lt. Brian Murphy.

We must never forget that all law enforcement officers place themselves between danger and the community they protect and serve. We stand with the community and with our brothers and sisters in law enforcement as we honor all our officers for their sacrifice.”

A Milwaukee where all can live safely and without fear, protected by a police department with the highest ethical and professional standards.

In partnership with the community, we will create and maintain neighborhoods capable of sustaining civic life. We commit to reducing the levels of crime, fear, and disorder through community-based, problem-oriented, and data-driven policing.
