Career Criminal Arrested for Burglary While on Probation for Previous Crimes

District 7 officers of the Milwaukee Police Department arrest a career burglar shortly after he committed another similar crime. Officers responded to a residence in the 2900 block of N. 69th Street around 1:35 am on January 14. The victims, a 33-year-old Milwaukee man and a 32-year-old Milwaukee man, told police someone broke into their home and stole a laptop computer. While on scene interviewing the victims, officers stopped to talk to a man carrying a backpack in the 2600 block of N. 70th Street. Inside the backpack, officers found the stolen laptop. The suspect, a 48-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested and taken into custody.

A further check on the suspect revealed that he had two municipal warrants and was currently on probation for burglary, being released just four weeks prior. The suspect has a lengthy criminal record including previous convictions for burglaries in 1998 and 2002, both of which he served time behind bars. The case will also be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
