Two burglary suspects are arrested after officers from District 5 of the Milwaukee Police Department caught them in the act. A witness called police at approximately 2:20 am on July 16 and said two men were trying to break into a shoe store in the 4000 block of N. Teutonia Avenue. Police arrived at the scene and saw two suspects climbing the neighboring building and trying to reach the roof. When the suspects saw the squads, they fled on foot. One of the suspects dropped a bag that contained various tools that could be used to commit burglaries. That suspect, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody in the 4100 block of N. Teutonia Avenue. The second suspect, also a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, tried to cover himself up with dirt but was taken into custody. A second bag with tools was also found. Upon further investigation, officers discovered a hole in the back of the building and the suspects tried to reach through the hole and steal items. The case will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
