Officers from District Six of the Milwaukee Police Department arrested a suspect, on probation for various other crimes, as he was trying to steal money from a fast food restaurant’s donation box. A witness called police after he noticed the suspect attempting to pry open the box at the McDonald’s at 2612 W. Morgan Avenue at approximately 3:40 am on June 29. When police arrived, the suspect dropped the tools and quickly surrendered to officers. As officers checked the area, they found a backpack belonging to the suspect that contained various other tools that could be used to commit burglaries. The suspect, a 29-year-old male from Racine, is currently on probation for Forgery, Retail Theft, Disorderly Conduct, and Drug Possession. The case will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
