An attempted armed robbery suspect is arrested by officers from District Six of the Milwaukee Police Department and is believed to be responsible for several other similar crimes. Officers were dispatched to a Wendy’s restaurant at 3050 S. Chase Avenue at about 3:00 p.m. on September 1. Employees of the restaurant told officers a suspect came into the building and presented a note demanding money. When the suspect realized the employees had called the police, he fled in a vehicle. Officers on patrol in the area identified the suspect and took him into custody in the 100 block of E. Gauer Circle. The suspect, a 25-year-old Milwaukee man, threw a hammer he was carrying shortly before his arrest. Police are still searching for a possible getaway driver. As the investigation continued, it was learned that the suspect may have been involved in at least three other similar crimes, including one just a few minutes before the Wendy’s incident at a Subway restaurant at 2110 E. Oklahoma Avenue. These cases will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
