Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested for Two Crimes

Officers from District One and District Five of the Milwaukee Police Department worked together to solve two separate armed robberies and arrest the suspects believed responsible. District One officers responded to the 2600 block of N. Maryland Avenue at about 11 p.m. on August 20 for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a 19-year-old Milwaukee man, told police he was walking home when he was approached by the suspect who demanded his belongings at gunpoint. The suspect took the victim’s cell phone and fled on foot. About 20 minutes later, a similar crime happened in the 3300 block of N. Weil Street. In that crime, two suspects armed with guns stole the property of three victims. Officers from both districts worked with the victim from the first armed robbery and through his computer were able to track the stolen cell phone to the 1900 block of W. Congress Street. The suspects were found in that location and two were taken into custody while one fled and is still being sought. The suspects had several stolen cell phones on them, including the ones taken in the initial District One robbery. Two guns, believed to be used in the crimes, were found near the suspects. The suspects are a 14-year-old Milwaukee male and a 17-year-old Milwaukee male. Police are also looking into a robbery in the 3000 block of S. Howell Avenue earlier in the evening that had similar suspect descriptions. Milwaukee Police will present their case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
