July 25th, 2012 by milwaukeepolice

District 7 Sgt. Charles Grimm and other officers were dispatched to Fond du lac and Hampton just after midnight on July 24 for several calls of shots fired. The shots also were heard by officers.

While checking the area, Sgt. Grimm saw a vehicle that appeared to be stolen, in the 4800 block of N. 64th St. The vehicle was occupied by several young juveniles. When he turned around to stop it, the youths had run from the vehicle. Responding squads eventually found the three suspects in the 6300 block of W. Hampton Ave. Sgt. Grimm was able to identify the driver.

Officers checking the area found a black hoodie in a window well on the  side of the house and a pink backpack in a window well on the side of a house. Inside the backpack were two screw drivers, a hammer and a black hoodie. Under the backpack was a toy pistol that looked like a real handgun. Additionally, the driver is believed to be responsible for other stolen autos.

The investigation and the questioning of the suspects continues.
