Milwaukee Police, using information from an alert citizen, arrested two suspects wanted for a Northwest Side burglary. District Four officers responded to the 5700 block of N. 97th Street around 7:30 p.m. on May 20 for a report of a burglary. The officers talked to the victim, a 28-year-old Milwaukee woman, who said she returned home and found that her house had been broken into and the suspects had stolen several electronic items. Later that evening, District Seven officers responded to the 5700 block of W. Hampton Avenue for a report of suspicious activity. A neighbor reported several suspects were removing electronic items from the vehicle. When the officers arrived, the suspects fled and crashed the minivan into a tree. Four suspects fled from the scene on foot and two of them, a 15-year-old male and a 27-year-old man, were taken into custody. Several of the stolen items that were stolen from N. 97th Street were found in the vehicle, which was stolen from the 5800 block of N. 61st Street earlier that day. The 27-year-old suspect is a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 2006. MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
