Milwaukee Police, along with the help of an alert citizen, stopped a robbery in progress on the city’s South Side. District Two officers were on patrol in the 2200 block of S. 16th Street just after 2:00 p.m. on April 26 when they were flagged down by a woman who said a juvenile was getting robbed near the corner of S. 16th Street and W. Grant Street. The victim, a 15-year-old Milwaukee girl, told officers that she was riding her bicycle when the suspect approached her, demanded her cell phone and tried to grab it from her. The victim feared that the suspect had a weapon and he was still trying to take the phone when officers arrived. The suspect, a 17-year-old Milwaukee male, was taken into custody. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
