An alert citizen helped Milwaukee Police officers arrest an armed robbery suspect on Milwaukee’s South Side. Officers responded to the Speedway Gas Station in the 1300 block of W. College Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on October 4 for a report of an attempted armed robbery. An employee told officers that a man entered the store, implied he had a weapon, and tried to steal money from the cash register. The suspect was unsuccessful and fled from the gas station. As the cashier ran out after the suspect, a male customer saw what happened and followed the suspect in his car. A short time later, a District Two officer was at a gas station near S. 6th Street and W. Lapham Boulevard when the customer approached him and pointed out the suspect’s vehicle. The officer took the 35-year-old Milwaukee man into custody. The suspect is a convicted felon and faces potential robbery charges. MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
